Acrylics are a great medium to create expressive landscapes. In this class, learn how to lay out a strong composition, gain a comprehensive understanding of mixing colours, practice various kinds of brushstrokes, and gain other important skills. Together we’ll also study some master landscape painters, and you will have the option of using some of your own photos to work from if desired.

A Week in Plein Air

Back from popular demand! Pastels are the perfect medium to jump into working en plein air! A combination of drawing and painting, start by selecting a strong composition followed by blocking in with light charcoal lines and then luscious layers of pastel.In this class we will visit different locations in Edmonton as well as short drives to the country side. Places like the MacTaggart Sanctuary/Blackmud Creek area, the North Saskatchewan River valley in addition to outlying areas like the sand hills. Transportation will be required but shouldn’t be an issue if we have enough drivers.
Each class will begin by meeting at Artelier Studios, unless otherwise noted.
